On Thursday May 8th the GM Plant in Norman Oklahoma was slammed by a tornado that weaved a path of destruction from Moore to Choctaw. We had left Choctaw in the morning to travel to Joplin Missouri, where severe weather broke out later in the day.

At 5pm the emergency sirens went off. About 1000 employees who had just gone through emergency tornado drills one week before, made their way to a large, tunnel like basement in the plants old paint shop.
